kayak for the cause
“Kayak for a Cause”is a fundraiser and awareness event
that was created in 2016. Years ago, Kara was attempting to
think outside the box and create something more innovative
when it came to raising money. Not only does this event do
just that, it creates a sense of hope to children and their
families that they truly can do anything. If they believe in
Since the trip was created, Kara has completed three 70
miles kayak trip in 72 hours. These trips were throughout
Puget Sound. During these trips Kara was accompanied by a
safety boat and a support team. All trips were challenging in
their own ways.
At times she was paddling against the tide, dealing with the current or kayaking through a rain storm. She has seen dolphins,
whales, seals and even a ferry as it passed by her through Elliot Bay in Seattle. Although they were a challenge, she was able
to raise money that later assisted in funding several projects she offers through Kara Lynn Foundation. All trips had a high
amount of media coverage including spots on King 5, IFiber news and Komo 4 news. She was featured in newspaper articles
and blogs. This offered a lot of positive exposure and support for “Kayak for a Cause”
The goal for our trip this year is to raise $30,000. If you are reading this, you have probably been asked to
donate. Any amount is greatly appreciated and 100% of the money raised goes to funding our 2021 projects.
Thank you to our sponsors, volunteers, support staff and awesome board members.
