As a young girl, when Kara Sampson would stare off into space, her mother often thought she simply wasn’t paying attention.

It wasn’t until Sampson had a grand mal seizure at a water park in California that she and her family realized she’d been suffering from smaller seizures for years.

Living with epilepsy has defined Sampson’s life, even when she didn’t want it to, but now the Shelton business owner wants to give back and embrace the disease, encouraging everyone to accept who they are, no matter their background.

The Kendall Collection, Sampson’s business on Railroad Avenue, is selling a line of clothing and accessories online and in stores that will benefit the Epilepsy Foundation, and 10 percent of the sales sold from the store’s eBay collection will go toward Seattle Children’s Hospital.
